Gut Apeldör cooperates with Too Good To Go against food waste
The Gut Apeldör golf course has declared war on food waste. Since May 17, the catering industry, in cooperation with Too Good To Go, has been offering so-called magic bags with groceries, which local customers can then buy at a reasonable price.
“We are currently offering a 3-course evening meal for golf package hotel guests, which means that three to five Magic meals are left over every day. As soon as we are allowed to offer buffets, this will certainly increase,” explains Tanja Hussner, the program of the golf course in Schleswig-Holstein. This prevents the staff from disposing of the food from the restaurant in the evening, as was previously the case.
Customers react positively to the new offer
Too Good To Go is a food waste prevention platform that now has over 38 million members in its community. On the one hand there are supermarkets, food companies or restaurants that market their surplus groceries, on the other hand there are consumers who can buy more cheaply this way.
Gut Apeldör was asked by Too Good To Go to take part, because more than 100 users in the vicinity of the facility had downloaded the corresponding app. The employees in the gastronomy were enthusiastic about the idea, the first Magic bags were sold in the morning at 9.30 a.m. for the evening at 8.30 p.m. In Gut Apeldör one is certain: the issue of food disposal has been solved in a positive way for the time being.
The Gut Apeldör golf course has been pursuing a sustainability concept for some time, which is evident in various areas. Among other things, it is a partner of the Wadden Sea and has started a tree planting campaign together with two other golf courses.
