OceanTee and LET launch environmental education
The Ladies European Tour will partner with OceanTee , makers of sustainable bamboo tees, to offer workshops for children at first tournaments in the UK in 2021 alongside the Marine Conservation Society . This non-profit organization has been protecting the oceans for decades. LET is thus continuing its cooperation with OceanTee, which took place for the first time in 2020.
The first joint action in connection with a professional LET tournament will take place at the beginning of the season and will appeal to young people between the ages of eleven and 15 as participants. A workshop is planned in which the children will be taught by the Marine Conservation Society, but will also be able to take part in an outdoor activity. A plastic beach cleanup is one of the actions planned.
Ocean Tee, founded by Ed Sandison, was already a partner of the Ladies European Tour in 2020 and made the very durable and sustainably produced bamboo tees available to the players. After the Ladies European Tour presented their initiative ” Celebrating the Green, presented by Dow” to the public a week ago, the task now is to fill the sustainability initiative with projects. Ed Sandison has the golfers of tomorrow in mind: “By working with the LET, we will not only increase the use of sustainable bamboo tees, but we will also have the opportunity to educate the golfers of tomorrow on the importance of sustainability and to teach the influence of pollution.”
