Sustainable Golf Week puts nature in the spotlight
Golf – Better with Nature, this is the motto of this year’s Sustainable Golf Week, which begins on October 9 and, like the 2022 premiere, is being organized by the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf. As part of Sustainable Golf Week, the golf community around the world is being asked to digitally share a sustainability issue in golf and raise awareness via social media channels.
The Golf – Better with Nature theme was chosen because “golf’s relationship with nature is unique among sport, with landscapes, ecosystems and biodiversity form an essential part of the experience.” For both golf and society, GEO believes that “preserving and actively reviving nature” has a significant role to play, given the enormous challenges posed by climate change and ecosystems decline.
Toolbox offers practical help
Within Sustainable Golf Week, each day is dedicated to a special theme such as protecting nature, restoring nature or promoting nature. In addition to informative elements that GEO will play out within the week via its own channels, a toolbox is available for all golf facilities that want to participate, in which one can find prepared material for the dissemination of the topic on social media channels, for example. This year, the toolbox is available in numerous languages. Tips, for example on the ideal creation of a video, complete the package.
Concept “Nature Positive Golf
During Sustainable Golf Week, GEO will also introduce the Nature Positive Golf™ concept. Here, the focus will also be on how to communicate the importance of natural landscapes to millions of golfers worldwide.
Sustainable Golf Week is not exclusively for golf facilities certified by GEO. Any golf facility that is interested in the topic of sustainability and would like to comment on it can participate.
