The consequences of #climate change and the limita

The consequences of #climate change and the limitation of #resources are still underestimated by #golf facilities worldwide. The speed at which the environment changes and the economic threat this poses to many golf courses is sometimes not recognized. Therefore, the leading golf associations' clear emphasis on the need for #sustainable #agronomy is significant.
However, it is also crucial that not only the financially robust golf facilities but also all average clubs with limited human and financial resources have access to the necessary expertise.
The R&A today announced its expanded Sustainable Agronomy Service as inclusive, affordable and accessible.
Let's hope that the programme's persuasive power is significant enough to convince all those who still think they can sit out the challenges of climate change.

🌍 In Dornoch, #golf has existed for more than 400 years. At the same time, climate change is threatening parts of the Scottish coast and also parts of the golf courses of the world-famous @royal.dornoch Golf Club.

🤔 But when you take a second look, you realize there are problems.
🌳 Offsetting the carbon footprint with certificates is controversial. The research by a group of scientists around Thales A. West from the University of Amsterdam shows that the effectiveness of REDD+ projects, which are supposed to mitigate climate change by protecting forests, is pretty dubious. It will be interesting to see if further studies on other forms of compensation will follow and what results they will yield.
🚗 🛩 To be honest, given all these travel activities of golfers and fans at tournaments, all these car journeys of the regular golfer to his club, net zero in golf seems impossible at the moment without compensation with certificates.

👧 Environmental education on the #golf course is a way to turn children and young people into ambassadors for environmental protection and also for golf.

💡 According to the representative study, “Future? Youth ask! – 2021”, which the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA) and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUV) commissioned surveyed more than 1,000 young people aged 14 to 22, this area of life is one of the four most important issues for young people in Germany. 85 % of the young people surveyed think environmental and climate protection is essential.

⛳ Back at the Amundi Evian Championship: Of all the tournaments I've been writing about for over 20 years, the one with the most incredible development.

🎥 Retrospect: When I first went to Evian-les-Bains in 2004 to see Michelle Wie play as a 14-year-old teenager, the tournament was not yet a major, the crowds were small even on the final Sunday, and the world's top women had the facility to themselves.

🎬 Nearly 20 years later, Continental Europe's only major tournament is impressive in terms of the quality of the sport, event organization, program and media coverage.

🏆 The success has its basis in the belief in women's sport and its future. "We wanted to do more than just be a sponsor," Natacha Andermahr, Head of Communications at Amundi, said Wednesday, referring to the Amundi Women Talent Program. Here, the company invests in young female talent, allowing them to develop their abilities.

Programs like these are less evident than pure prize money, which is what much of the equal pay issue is about now. In the end, however, promoting women's sports is not just about prize money but also about nurturing talent and, most importantly:
