Glenmuir scores again in terms of sustainability with its new fall/winter collection, which is available from August. The British company has all its lambswool sweaters knitted in Scotland, while items made from merino wool are produced in Italy. The zippers on the men’s sweaters, for example, are made from vegan leather. The material used to make the golf items water-repellent is PFC-free. The fleece material worn underneath the pullovers is produced from 90 percent recycled polyester.
For Anniina Sorvisto, designer at Glenmuir, it is important that we “create golf clothing that’s not only luxurious, comfortable and high-performing but also ethical, durable and sustainable.”
Glenmuir is pursuing the following sustainability projects for the upcoming collection:
- Recycled materials: Recycled polyester yarns reduce landfill waste while providing high performance.
- Natural fibers: Glenmuir offers the largest collection in golf of ethically and sustainably sourced and biodegradable lambswool and merino wool products.
- Better Cotton Initiative (BCI): All cotton is sourced from the BCI, which supports sustainable agriculture and communities.
- PFC-free finishes: By using plant-based water repellent technologies, Glenmuir ensures that its garments protect both the wearer and the environment.
- Environmentally friendly packaging: Brochures and packaging are made from recycled materials and printed using climate-neutral processes.
