Roadshows as a sustainability network
The UK Golf Federation will host one-day GolfBIC Roadshow events and GolfBIC Sustainability Golf Conferences at four locations in Scotland and England in April/May 2024, supported by the R&A’s Sustainability Team and the GEO Foundation.
The focus will be on the question of how golf courses can jointly invest in the future of golf with the help of sustainable measures. Environmental protection is to be given priority in order to look for innovative ways to minimize the carbon footprint of golfers and golf courses.
Promotion of sustainable golf courses
The roadshows will focus on promoting sustainable golf courses in the future and encouraging club managers to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions from golf operations in the future. At the same time, the aim is to raise awareness of sustainable practices within the golf industry.
“The collective knowledge and experience of these organizations will undoubtedly provide invaluable guidance to golf stakeholders and promote positive change in the industry,” says Richard Haygarth, Chairman of the British Golf Association and owner of Maple Leaf Golf.
Sustainability network
Presentations from well-known sustainability service providers will address a variety of topics, including sustainable turf management, renewable energy integration, waste management, water conservation and more. In addition, exhibitors from sustainable golf equipment manufacturers, environmental organizations and golf course management companies will present their products and services.
The four events in London (April 23), Cambridge (May 8), Glasgow (May 16) and Bradford (May 23) are open to golf course managers, course owners or operators and golf enthusiasts. At the GolfBIC roadshows, participants have the opportunity to network with like-minded golf course owners and operators.
