Minimal Golf, a US manufacturer of sustainably produced golf bags, is expanding into Europe. With the launch of the new M Comp bag, the company is continuing its mission to develop high-quality golf equipment “For the Player and For the Planet”.
With the new M Comp model, Minimal Golf offers a lightweight stand bag made entirely from recycled nylon – obtained from old fishing nets. In addition, there are features such as continuous magnetic closures that replace classic zippers and thus increase the durability of the product. A special highlight is the integrated filming pocket, which makes it possible to film the golf swing directly from the bag.
Brand essence sustainability
Minimal Golf is committed to avoiding plastic waste and recycling marine litter. The company consistently uses recycled high-performance materials and deliberately avoids short-lived design solutions. The completely zipper-free design reduces susceptibility to repairs and extends the useful life of the bags. In this way, Minimal Golf not only wants to sell products, but also actively contribute to the protection of the oceans and resources.
Three models
Minimal Golf currently offers three different models that are geared towards the needs of different types of players, but are all based on the same sustainable principles:
- M Comp (349 euros): The latest model is an extremely lightweight stand bag for players who travel a lot on foot. It is made entirely from recycled nylon, comes with a magnetic closure system, an integrated tripod for swing shots and a clear, minimalist design language.
- Terra Stand Bag (225 euros): This model is particularly designed for stability and functionality when carrying. It offers slightly more storage space and structure than the M Comp, but also remains lightweight and environmentally friendly. The magnetic closures are also standard here, supplemented by practical pocket dividers for longer laps.
- Gaia Cart Bag (349 euros): Designed for use on trolleys and golf carts, this is the model with maximum storage space, a more robust construction and numerous well thought-out details for organization and convenience.
Minimal Golf was founded by Sam Goulden. With the design of the MNML golf bag, which until then was primarily sold on the US market, he wanted to offer the buyer of a new bag a sensible way of disposing of their used bag, which might have ended up in the bin. In 2022, the Trade It Forward program was created, which gives customers the opportunity to donate their old golf bag to the Junior Foundation of the Southern California Golf Association. The customer simply puts the bag in the box in which the new MNML bag is delivered, uses the finished dispatch note and sends it on to the Junior Foundation.
“I just wanted the parents to be able to save that 200 dollars and spend it somewhere else. Junior golf is pretty expensive, especially when you think about tournament golf, so every little bit counts,” explains Goulden, who played a lot of golf himself as a youngster. At the beginning of the program, Sam Goulden’s company also took over the shipping costs, before realizing that they were slipping into the red when selling the MNML bags. Since then, shipping within the USA is no longer included. But still, if you want to decimate your stock of old golf bags in the cellar, this is a wonderful opportunity to do something for a good cause. However, this option is not available in Europe.
